If you read my article "five brain boosting foods" then you will have heard me mention the brain boosting breakfast super smoothie ive been making for a few years now on days when I want my brain to be working as optimally as possible. There are many proven vitamins, minerals, and nutrients which contribute to memory, cognition, concentration, and general brain health and this smoothie recipe includes a few of my favourites. Whats even better is that it tastes amazing too!
Due to the high healthy fat content of this smoothie you will be left feeling satisfied for hours making it great for those with busy lifestyles or those looking to avoid a high carb breakfast.
Here's what you need:
- 1 Scoop of Chocolate protein powder (a whey and cassein blend works well)
- 1/4-1/2 a medium avocado
- 1 teaspoon of organic dark cocoa powder
- 1-2 seperated egg yolks
- 5-15ml Coconut/MCT Oil
- Dairy free milk replacement to your desired thickness (I like the coconut versions)
- 1 shot of good espresso or 150ml of freshly brewed coffee.
- A couple of ice cubes
Top tip: Try brewing some coffee and freezing it in an in an ice cube tray before adding them to your Brain Boosting Super Smoothie for an ice cold intense start to the day. Around 4 cubes should do it!
